CPAC Art Exhibit

 

Painting of an American Buffalo, Bison Bison, in blues, purples, gold and yellows. Three of Maureen’s paintings were juried into the Community Performance Art Center (CPAC in Green Valley, AZ) Art Exhibition “Icons of the West,” in the Harry and Ann Paxton Gallery and Theater Lobby. The opening reception was January 10, 2024, 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. Maureen received an Honorable Mention award for her painting Bison Bison. This exhibit runs from January 2, to February 1, 2024.

This exhibit is being sponsored by an anonymous donor. Not only is this person an avid supporter of CPAC, but also has a passionate interest in the Western United States, its people, cultures, and animals.

Juror/Judge: Christine C. Brindza who serves as Senior Curator and Curator of Art of the American West at the Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block (TMA) in Tucson, Arizona. She has spearheaded major exhibitions at TMA including More Than: Expanding Artist Identities from the American West and The Western Sublime: Majestic Landscapes of the American West. She has played a pivotal role in developing and implementing community-collaborative exhibition projects, such as Stories from Clay: Community Conversations of TMA’s Historical Indigenous Pottery Collection, and Enduring Legacies: The James T. Bialac Indigenous Art Collection. Christine’s curatorial work has centered on broadening representation of the American West, providing multiple access points, and considering relevance to local audiences.

Before her tenure, Christine acted as curator at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming. She has a Master of Arts degree in Archival, Museum, and Editing Studies and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and is a PhD Candidate at the University of Arizona for Art History and Education.
